Windows 11 Pro’s Setup Process Will Need a Microsoft Account - How-To Geek

Gambar
Microsoft is making a change to the process required to get Windows 11 Pro up and running. Now, you'll need to be connected to the internet and signed in with a Microsoft account. That means you can no longer use Windows 11 Pro to dodge using an account. You already needed a Microsoft account to install Windows 11 Home [1] , so this change brings the Pro version of the operating system to the same spot. Before this change, you could simply create a local account and disconnect your PC from the internet during the setup process, but those days are going away. "Similar to Windows 11 Home edition, Windows 11 Pro edition now requires internet connectivity during the initial device setup (OOBE) only," says Microsoft in a Windows Insider blog post [2] . "If you choose to set up [a] device for personal use, MSA will be required for setup as well." Obviously, Microsoft wants to get everyone on Windows using a Microsoft Account [3] , so it makes sense t...

How to upgrade an unsupported computer to Windows 11 - Windows Central

Gambar
Although Windows 11 [1] has a higher system requirement, you may still be able to perform an in-place upgrade on an unsupported computer by editing the Registry of the current setup and using the official installation media. Microsoft does not support devices running on unsupported hardware, but it offers a Registry workaround [2] to bypass the trusted platform module (TPM) version 2.0 and processor requirements to install Windows 11. However, using this method, the computer will still need TPM 1.2, Secure Boot, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a processor with at least two cores to proceed with the upgrade. The workaround is meant for organizations that need to experiment with Windows 11 and apps, but anyone can use it to upgrade an unsupported device as long as they know that system stability and compatibility won't be guaranteed. In this Windows 11 guide [3] , we will walk you through the steps to upgrade a device that doesn't meet the minimum system requirements. ...

Google [1] Google is releasing a new version of Chrome OS, but it's not designed for its own devices. Instead, Chrome OS Flex [2] is designed to bring older Macs and PCs back to life for businesses and schools. According to Google, Chrome OS Flex will install on a computer within minutes, which means you won't have to waste hours switching from Mac OS or Windows to Google's lightweight operating system. It is important to note that Google told The Verge [3] that the new operating system would look and feel precisely the same on a PC or Mac as it does on a Chromebook [4] . Of course, features will vary based on the specs of the computer it's running on, so whether you get  always-on Google Assistant [5] and Android phone syncing will depend on how old the computer you're resurrecting is. You can try Chrome OS Flex on your Mac or PC right now [6] , although it's experimental and intended for evaluation in business and school settings. It's n...
